Hi, Everyone!

I can't wait for school to begin. We are going to have a great year full of learning, laughing, exploring, and fun. I would love to hear about the best thing you did this summer. Grab an adult and have him/her help you write a comment to share one thing you loved about this summer.

Adults - Please read the guidelines before you help your student share his/her event. Comments should be 3-4 sentences long.

Looking forward to hearing about your summer!

The whole family went to Camp Louise. My sisters and I were in a bunk together. We were in unit A in bunk 16 first session in Junior Camp and second session we were in Rookie Camp in bunk 15. Camp was FUN!

After camp, the whole family went to the beach. We went to the ocean, to the pool and to Fun Land .

My summer vacation was very FUN!!

The best part of my summer was going to camp. At camp we have a carnival and water day. We eat cotton candy, popcorn, and snowballs. We go on rides, water slides, and play water games.

Hi, Anthony,

Camp sounds great! I love water slides and rides also. I wonder if you went on rides everyday or if they only had rides for the Carnival?

The Maryland State Fair opened this week. Maybe your parents will take you there for cotton candy and rides. Please let me know if you go.

Thanks, Mrs. Levine

We only have rides at the carnival. We did not make it to the state fair but we did make it to the Howard county fair.

I heard that you like snowballs . What is your favorite flavor of snowball? My favorite flavor of snowball is chocolate.

One, of many things I loved about this summer was going to the beach for an entire month. I was able to go boogie boarding almost everyday. Some days there was a sand bar out in the ocean. It was really exciting to swim out to it and jump the waves.

Hi, Oscar -

You are really lucky to go to the beach for an entire month. You must be a boogie board expert after all that practice!

I will share my body surfing experience with you in class soon. Maybe you'll give me some tips.

See you soon,
Mrs. Levine

My favorite thing this summer was going to VT to visit my grandparents for 9 days. We got to swim in the hot tub everyday. I picked raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and black and red currants. They got a teepee and we stuffed hay into it. We also made jelly & jam I loved it. I Can Not Wait Until The 1st Day Of School

Hi, Daniel -

It sounds like you had an excellent trip to Vermont. I would love to hear about how you made jelly and jam. It must have been very hard. Have you ever heard of the book, Blueberries for Sal? It is about a little girl who goes blueberry picking with her mother. They want to make jam with their blueberries. If you haven't read it yet, maybe Mom will get it from the library for you. I think you will enjoy it. Maybe you can read it to your little brothers. They may enjoy it also.

I am so excited for school to begin also. See you tomorrow,
Mrs. Levine

One of the things I liked about this summer was visiting Sanibel Island in Florida. I tried stand-up paddleboarding at the beach and it was fun. We also took a boat ride to an island called Cayo Costa where I found a lot of conch shells. My parents gave me money to buy a souvenir from the trip and I bought a turtle made from shells and turtle earrings. I saw a lot of lizards and went to a restaurant called the Lazy Flamingo.

I also learned to ride a bike without training wheels!!!

I went to Deep Creek twice this summer. The first time was for most of a week and the second time was for a week. The first time was with my cousin and Aunt and Uncle and then my grandparents came. The second time for the first couple of days my friends were there, and then it was just my family and then my grandparents came. Both times were really fun. I went waterskiing almost every day, and now I can waterski by myself. We went hiking more than ten times. On one of the hikes my mom got me and my dad lost, and we ended up hiking more than five miles. Another time, I almost stepped on a snake. A couple of times, we hiked to the Brant coal mine. At night we ate Smores. Deep Creek was really fun!

Wow, Jonah!

You sure had a fun vacation. I am impressed that you are such a good water-skier. I have never been waterskiing and I would love to learn. Maybe you can teach me.

I wonder if you were scared when you stepped on that snake during your hike. I think I would have been very scared. Do you know what kind of snake it was?

I'd love to hear more about it.

I like to eat s'mores too. How many s'mores did you have when you were away? One night at the beach, I had three. They were delicious!

I went to 2 camps this summer, Milldale and Habima Performing Arts at the JCC. I had fun going on a zipline, acting and having fun with my friends. I also liked going to the Maryland State Fair where I saw the Piggie Race and went on lots of rides. It was an awesome summer!

Hi, Julia -

It sure sounds like you were busy this summer. I have not been to the Maryland State Fair yet, but I hope to go before it closes. My family loves going on rides, so I think we would have a lot of fun. Did you go on rides? What kind of rides do you like?

See you tomorrow,

I went to vermont with my family (and cousins). I went on a ton of waterslides and went on a big bike ride (11 miles!). We went to "family camp" at Pearlstone. I learned a lot about the farm and did a "farm to table dinner". We also went on a lot of hikes. We just returned from a trip to Canada. In Quebec a lot of people speak French. I learned how to say "Bonjour" and "Je ne parle pas franca is, parlez-vous anglais? " That means "I do not speak French, do you speak English?" I also went to Roots and got a great pair of sweat pants and sweat shirt. It was a busy and FUN summer!

Merci, (thank you)
Zachary

Bon jour, Zachary,

You sure were busy this summer. You did so many fun things! I have been to Montreal many times and I love visiting that city. I'm glad you enjoyed it also. In fact, I will be going to Montreal next weekend for a wedding! Maybe I will go to Roots also and get a sweatshirt. Then we can wear them the same day! That would be funny.

See you tomorrow,
Mrs Levine

That sounds like a fun summer. Do you know how to say, "king" in French? I am glad that we are in the same class again this year!

I went to the Dominican Republic and swam with dolphins. Then, I went to camp at Beth Tfiloh for 8 weeks and last week we went to California and stayed at a big ranch with all of my 7 cousins (I am the oldest cousin). I saw a bobcat one night outside the ranch. I also went to the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey circus!

Wow, Jacob!

What an exciting summer you had. I would love to swim with dolphins! I'm glad you shared more details about that today in class.

You also must have enjoyed spending time with your cousins in California. My girls love to be with their cousins. When we get together as a family, the kids have more fun then anyone else. They play and play and play. They also sleep together in one big room and stay up as late as they want. I wonder if you did that with your cousins?

I'm glad you enjoyed your summer.

What a great summer. I have not been stand up paddle boarding yet, but I think I would enjoy it, especially since you gave it such a good review! Did you get to take your conch shells home?

Congratulations on riding a bike without training wheels. That is a big deal! The best part is that you will always know how to ride a bike from now on, no matter how old you get. You will never forget how to ride a bike.

See you tomorrow,
Mrs Levine
