Headed Back to my Roots

Well, I'm heading back to my roots - I'll be teaching fourth grade again next year. I have loved every second of teaching second grade. Each one of my students stole my heart from the first moment I met them. I had the most fun, engaging, and fresh year and I will treasure every memory with my incredible little people.

Now, I'm onto a new adventure a little closer to home. I'll be reuniting with my old partner and working with the big kids again. I'm excited to see where this adventure leads me and how I'm going to incorporate everything I learned from my little ones into my new classroom.

Have a great summer and I'll see you on the other side of September.

The Bittersweet Blog

This is our last blog of the year. We feel both sad and happy. We feel sad because it is the last day of school and this is our last blog post. We are going to miss our teachers and friends. We feel happy because we are going to have summer vacation. Some of us are going to camp and some of us are going away on vacation and we're excited. We are going to day camp and sleep-away camp.

These are some of the things we loved about this year -

Anthony - I loved art and Morah Bracha.

Asher - My favorite part of the year was when we had a candy buffet and a pinata. We had a candy buffet and pinata because our class got lots and lots of compliments from our behavior in the hallway. I also loved the trip tot he Science Center.

Brody - My favorite part of the year was having Mrs. Levine as a teacher, learning cursive, playing at recess and gym. I also liked when Joe Lewis (Oscar) came in and tried to steal the iPad.

Daniel - I like Judaic Studies, gym, math, English and everything else. The only thing I didn't like was when everyone went crazy in the class when the teacher wasn't in the room.

Hannah - My favorite part of second grade was the fairy tale play, gym, iPads, cursive, and Mokey movies.

Jacob - My favorite part of second grade was when we played with the blocks in the corner during break time. Another thing I liked was writing on the blog that I am writing on right now.

Jessica - I liked when we did the pinata because it was my idea. I liked the Science Center. I liked when we got ice cream with Morah Bracha and lollipops and when we did coordinate graphing in math. I liked when we learned about tribes.

Jonah - I liked getting ice cream with Morah Bracha, the pinata, and Spirit Day. I liked knowing that I am the fastest runner in the second grade. I liked doing what I am doing right now, which is blogging.

Julia B - I liked having the best teacher in the world. Another thing I liked was playing a game with Anthony and some of my friends at recess. I loved all the sugary candy and the ice cream I had this year.

Julia L - My favorite part of the school year was Spirit Day and when Morah Bracha gave us ice cream and a candy party. I liked winning the race at Spirit Day.

Ryan - I liked having the best teacher in the second grade. I also love that she gave us a lot of candy and i like that she gets to be my homeroom teacher. I loved her shoes.

Zachary - My favorite part of the school year was Spirit Day and when we watched Mokie movies in Hebrew.

Flower Power

Class 2B is studying the rights and responsibilities of citizens. A responsibility is something that people do to help the common good. Today our grade decorated flower pots and planted flowers to give to formerly homeless people to decorate their new homes.
We had a special visitor come in from JVC, Jewish Volunteer Connection. She told us that it is a very nice thing to help others and that our project is a good deed.  She talked about how we can help people and all the places she's been to help others. She talked about what we've done to help others; Bunches of Lunches, delivering Mishloach Manot on Purim, and Thanksgiving Day of Service. She drew a body and asked us how we use our senses to see the reactions of people we help. The discussion we had as we created the picture made us realize that when we do good deeds, we help ourselves also.
