Water, water everywhere...and not a drop to drink

Please be patient - these maps take a long time to load.

To conclude our study of geography and map skills, second graders were asked to create an island. This island had to have specific features based on the map features we learned in class. Below are the maps your children created. We used the rubric as a key, so you will not see a legend on these maps. Printed copies of the maps are being sent home this week.

Families - please enjoy this slideshow and add a comment explaining why you like specific features of these maps. Students, please do the same!

I don't want anyone to be left out so I am going to comment on everyone's map.
Brody- I like all of your fish.
Daniel- I like how you made your peninsula.
Hannah- You picked really pretty fish.
Jonah- I like the way you made your water and your land looks like a cracked egg.
Julia B- I like all of the princesses and your island is shaped like a dolphin.
Julia L- I like how your grass is in the water and I like your pictures.
Mrs Levine- I like the shape of your island.
Ryan- I like that you called your island Beauty Land.
Zachery- I like the pictures and how it looks like a jelly fish.
Jacob-I like the 3 suns.
Jessica- I like all the people.
Oscar- I like how all your fish are on the bottom.
Mine-Anthony- I like how I made my water.

I had a lot of fun looking at everyone's maps. I thin we all did a very good job. Thank you Mrs Levine for making school fun.

Jonah,

I like your island a lot because it looks like a cookie. It looks like it has chocolate chips on it, and chocolate chip cookies are my favorite cookies.

    I am headed back to my roots this year. I'll be teaching 4th grade again. Of my 18 years in the classroom, 12 of them have been have been in 4th grade. Now I'm back.
